Abstract
In January 2015, Kennesaw State University merged with Southern Polytechnic State University, consolidating the two library collections into one with 400,000 monographs. The integrated collection was in dire need of being evaluated and weeded since neither library had done any major collection maintenance projects for years. Headed by the director of the collection development unit and the monographs management librarian, we developed an ambitious collection maintenance plan in 2018 to weed the entire collection in 5 years. (Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we extended the completion year to 2024.) In past years, we worked diligently and developed an effective system that led to several successful weeding projects for the sciences, engineering, health sciences, and technology collections.
