Abstract
The Oxford Research Encyclopedia is a project from Oxford University Press that offers an innovative and evolving model of accessing and using reference collections. Oxford is currently constructing a peer-reviewed reference collection of 25 college-level encyclopedias written by respected scholars who are leaders within their individual disciplines. These encyclopedias are designed to provide college students, faculty, and researchers with a significant background of foundational knowledge and leading-edge topics for major areas of research across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. The material will be updated regularly to maintain currency. The articles included will consist of both Open Access materials and subscription-based collections. Seven of the encyclopedias have been completed as of April 2018 and are available for subscription purchase; Encyclopedia of Social Work, the Oxford Classical Dictionary, American History, Latin American History, Religion, Communication, and Politics. The remaining encyclopedias are still under development and may be searched through the Oxford Research Encyclopedia website for free, and all Open Access materials are linked and available.
